Alongside longtime collaborator DJ Spinn, Rashad cofounded the Teklife collective, a global community of DJs and producers pushing footwork in new directions. His music, defined by hyperactive beats, frenetic sampling, and a deep emotional resonance, brought underground Chicago footwork into clubs and festivals worldwide.

Rashad’s 2013 album, Double Cup, released on the UK-based label Hyperdub, was a critical breakthrough. The album fused footwork’s raw energy with soulful samples and a head-spinning sense of rhythm, earning praise across the electronic music spectrum. Tracks like Let U No and Feelin’ displayed a deft musicality that defied genre boundaries.

Tragically, Rashad passed away in 2014 at the age of 34. Despite his untimely death, his influence remains foundational to modern electronic music. Through his work and the ongoing efforts of the Teklife crew, DJ Rashad’s legacy continues to inspire producers, dancers and listeners around the world.
